寫在“基石”之前

“基石”是個平實的詞，不夠“炫”，卻能夠準確傳達我們對構建中的中國科幻繁華巨廈的情感與信心，因此，我們用它來作為這套原創叢書的名字。
最近十年，是科幻創作飛速發展的十年。王晉康、劉慈欣、何宏偉、韓松等一大批科幻作家發表了大量深受讀者喜愛、極具開拓與探索價值的科幻佳作。科幻文學的龍頭期刊更是從一本傳統的《科幻世界》，發展壯大成為涵蓋各個讀者層的系列刊物。與此同時，科幻文學的市場環境也有了改善，省會級城市的大型書店裡終於有了屬於科幻的領地。
仍然有人經常問及中國科幻與美國科幻的差距，但現在的答案已與十年前不同。
在很多作品上（它們不再是那種毫無文學技巧與色彩、想象力拘謹的幼稚故事），這種比較已經變成了人家的牛排之於我們的牛肉。差距是明顯的——更準確地說，應該是“差別”——卻已經無法再為它們排個名次。口味問題有了實際意義，這正是我們的科幻走向成熟的標誌。
